Are you looking for on-campus assistance with early-stage product design and/or prototyping needs?
UC San Diego Design Lab
The founders of this organization, believe that “…design is an all encompassing field that integrates together business and engineering, the social sciences and the arts”.
The goal of the Design Lab is to “…create an exciting, vibrant design community that pervades the campus, cutting across disciplines, developing cross-campus projects, combining practice with theory, and making UC San Diego a world leader in design theory and integrative programs”.
Visit the Design Lab, located within the California Institute of Telecommunication and Information Technology.
The EnVision Arts and Engineering Maker Studio facilitates the collaboration of artists and engineers on projects that connect theory with practice. It’s an “…experiential teaching facility where both engineering and visual arts students are empowered to think, design, make, tinker, break and build again”.
The maker studio opened to students in January 2016 with more than 25 sections of four different hands-on laboratory classes. Additional classes, from both the Jacobs School of Engineering and Visual Arts are planned for the near future.
